Library Policies:

John W. Dickhaut Library
Methodist Theological School in Ohio

The primary mission of the library of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio is to support the information needs of the school's students, faculty and staff. Other individuals, who are also neither alumni nor legitimate borrowers at one of the schools of the Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus, may apply to the librarian or his representative for limited borrowing privileges. Such visitors are limited to borrowing a maximum of 15 items at a time. Since a library card from MTSO library is also recognized at the other libraries of the Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus, one should note that those libraries have their own circulation policies.

Loan periods for most patrons (students, visitors, alumni and clergy) are 28 days for books and other non-video items. Faculty and staff receive a longer borrowing period for these items. The loan period for videos is two weeks for all patrons.

Reference materials and periodicals do not circulate and may be used only in the library.

Materials may be renewed in person or over the phone.  There is a maximum of three renewals on all materials, and materials in high demand may be recalled by the library staff.

The library is open to members of the Central Ohio community, however circulation of material is limited to eligible borrowers. Borrowing privileges are extended to those holding a barcoded library card issued by a member of the Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus. Upon application and approval, individuals from the following groups may obtain borrowing privileges:
